Dear Colleagues,

While thinking that we have already started the Academic year late; we have started short-term holidays due to health problems. We all know that not to witness such interruptions we should apply quality” philosophy and be “proactive” all the time. Hygiene is an essential element of all humanity and one of the main places is “school”. Waterless Toilets, careless cleaning processes, not having fundamental healthcare habits are the most important issues for Swine Flu. Of course we should not forget about our warm-blooded hugs and kisses. J We need long time to change all these habits but as you can guess all are urgent for healthy communities.

Let's share what we did in the near past:

• This term I have had 35 students for my Innovative Teaching Course. Due to room limitations I had to limit the registration and I am so sorry for rejecting some of the students. After their own Leadership projects which focused on the famous scientists in their own fields, they participated in my Certified TQE Seminar. After the SQC Seminar they will start internalizing “Innovativeness”. I am sure they will be very fruitful teachers of the future. Uğur, one of the innovative students- helped me form a group in face book to collect all the innovative teachers of the past and the present. I am grateful to him. If you give a technology-based course, you should include techno into your curriculum without losing the control.

• The National Award Ceremony of the “6. International ICT Seagulls Project” took place in Muğla and Akyaka on 3-4 October with the great support of Muğla & Akyaka Mayors. The next step is the International Award Ceremony which will be held in CMS, Lucknow , India on 2-5 December 2009. If you want to participate in the “12. ICSQCC”, please keep in touch with me. For further info, visit: www.cmseducation.org . Last year the main theme of the ICT Seagulls Project was the “challenged students”. This year we will focus on the “Importance of Art, Music and Literature to train TQPs.”. Please find the main problems based upon that theme in your school/city/country and then create solutions. • As a result of Mauritius “1. International Challenged Students Convention” in December, we have had close relations with the related societies in Turkey . One of them is:” Bedd”. As a member of their Advisory Board, I will always be with them ( www.bedd.org.tr ).

• After the organization of “11. ICSQCC) on 26-28 August 2008 at Yeditepe University with the support of more than 20 organizations, our work concerning the preparation and editing of the Convention book took ages due to the problems with the publisher. I hope it will be finalized soon and you will be happy to see a qualified product in your hands. However, with the new Printing House owner you will have a very qualified copy in your hand soon.

• My project related to the “Informing the teacher candidates about the philosophy of Village Institutions” still goes on with the SQC methodology. Up to now, 28 projects were prepared by my students from Boğaziçi and Yeditepe Universities . Now they are collected within a book. I will take part in a Panel on 24th November 2009 at Yeditepe University to share the content.

• The Association for Continuous Improvement (Sü Ge Der) goes on its project- and conference-based activities. We are organizing an International Peace Conference on 28-30 April 2010 at Boğaziçi University with the collaboration of “Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies” and Boğaziçi University , Peace and Research Center (BUPERC). The title of the event is; “Peace at home, Peace in the World” and it will be the 15. Annual Meeting of Human DHS. To learn more, visit: www.humiliationstudies.org/whoweare/annualmeetings.php .
